Coyote Snow Pickets are extruded from heat treated aircraft grade aluminum. That accounts for the fact that they´re 50% stiffer than other pickets of equal weight. Then there´s the design. MSR modified the old T shaped cross section and put more metal where it counts, that is, where strength and bending resistance are needed most. Combined with Coyotes extra stiffness, this structure produces 20% more holding power than traditional designs, while exposing more surface to the snow. Another point is convenience. The Coyote´s attachment points are at 3-inch intervals along the neutral axis. That makes for easy clipping and fast freeze-ins, and also helps reduce weight.
